To offer its employees an environmentally friendly and healthy alternative to driving to work by car, PALFINGER provides around 200 bicycles and e-bikes for free use.

Bergheim, Austria on June 8, 2021

Investing in your health and protecting the environment at the same time - PALFINGER offers its employees this opportunity as part of the PALfit company health program. Around 200 bicycles and e bikes are provided by the world's leading provider of innovative crane and lifting solutions. “This campaign gives every employee the chance to take the first step in changing established habits. Regardless of whether it’s an e-bike or a regular bike, it’s an investment in looking after your own health,” says Andreas Klauser, CEO of PALFINGER AG.

Success on the move
When analyzing the potential of this program, the University of Seeburg showed that out of 2,300 PALFINGER employees in Austria, around 350 live within ten kilometers of their place of work. “No early morning traffic congestion, no need to find a parking space, and getting to enjoy the fresh air and some exercise on the way to work are benefits our employees appreciate. Regular exercise not only helps to prevent cardiovascular diseases, it also gives you a clear mind,” says Claudia Eigenherr-Tschugmell, Head of the PALfit program. The offer is in great demand. Around 200 participants are already taking advantage of the campaign and another 100 employees have put their names on the waiting list.

More than a company bike
Since May, the call to “Come and get your PALfit Bike” has gone out to all the company’s locations in Austria. Bergheim, Elsbethen, Köstendorf, Lengau and Vienna. Participants can choose between a conventional bike or an e-bike, regardless of the brand. The bike chosen by the employee and leased by PALFINGER is always ready, whether for the journey to work, for business purposes or for leisure. The installments for the PALfit bike are covered tax-free from gross salary. Comprehensive insurance and annual servicing are included. PALFINGER is working together with local specialist bike shops that provide top advice. The process is mainly digital using the “Willdienstrad.at” portal.

Comprehensive mobility concept
PALfit Bike is one of the three building blocks of the PALFINGER mobility concept. Together with the existing subsidized public transportation tickets and carpools, PALfit Bike is a notable expansion to PALFINGER’s sustainable mobility program.
